Westbye offers workshops & classes around food and crafts.
Westbye Gård, where we live, is a småbruk (small farm) near Hamar in Hedmark, a county of Norway.
We partner up with surrounding farms, producers and skilled individuals to offer a range of classes, workshops and experiences focusing on the value of quality over quantity.
Graduated with a Master degree in Cultures & Communication of Université Paris III, Nina has lived in Morocco, Colombia, Argentina, Australia and France before settling down in Norway. She has worked in restaurants for 10 years, baking, cooking, brewing coffee, waitressing or managing.
These days, Nina puts in practice a low-waste lifestyle by exploring living food cultures and natural homesteading at Westbye Gård. She also works as freelance cook, photographer, writer and translator (english/french/spanish).
Born and raised near Mjøsa, the largest lake of Norway, Anders has a thing for water. Educated in Water and Sanitation Engineering, he works as a freelance consultant, designing and drawing water treatment systems.
He's also a free-diving instructor, studies archeology on his spare time and is a keen bee-keeper, kombucha brewer and log-house builder on his extra-spare time.
The småbruk (small farm) where we live has been in Anders' family for 20 years.
Anne, the mother, runs the place with love and good care. She teaches friluftsliv ("outdoors life", one of my favorite norwegian words) at the Jønsberg Videregående Skole.
Chickens, rabbits, geese, ducks, and a flock of sheep in summer also live on the farm.
We are planning to build a tiny-house, a sauna and a passive greenhouse on our plot of land, which is around 1/4 acre.
